Challenge: Punch it Up!

I love using up every bit of my favorite patterned papers and a great way to do this is to use punches. They come in so many great sizes and shapes and can really add interest to a layout. On my page I used a circle punch under the felt flowers, and a small bird punch. So this weeks challenge is to use any sort of paper punch (shape, alpha, border) on your favorite KI papers. I can't wait to see yours -- be sure to link up your layout in the comments section. :)

Friday's Focus on....ME!!!

I bet most of us are guilty of the same thing....not getting enough pages of us in our albums.  I do think that each page we make shows a bit of our personalities and thus a bit of us goes on every page.  But it's a good thing to have a few pages dedicated to just you.  It might seem like a daunting task, but they don't have to be 'deep' pages, they can be fun!

Jamie Waters created a fun page all about her love for the internet!  I think we could all make a page on this subject matter!!

Mefocus_2

Tracy Miller took a different approach, she scrapped about a new facet of her personality...being a dog person!
Dogperson

Dee Gallimore-Perry made a fun and girly layout listing all the things she loves right now.  This is great to do every year or so to see how your loves change!

And I am once again killing two birds with one stone.  I made another page for my pregnancy album.  I figure I'm the one who's pregnant, so it is all about me, sorta.:)

So, as you can see there are lots of ways to make all about ME layouts, even if they aren't totally about you.  Leave a comment telling us how you like to get 'YOU' into your scrapbooks and be entered to win a prize next Friday!

Congratulations to last week's winner.....Email me!

Challenge: Seeing Stars

I don't know about you but I usually find it easier to scrapbook girl-ish pages: flowers, ribbons, trims and lots of pinks! ;) Lately I have been focusing on scrapping boy-themed pages. Some of my favorite products to use for boy pages? Stars, blue + green papers and embellishments and yes, more stars! I even use them on for my daughter's layouts. :) This week I challenge you to create a project using some sort of star product (check out all the great new KI star lace papers!) then post a link to your project in the comments. I'm sure that in no time at all you will be seeing stars.

Friday's Focus on the KI Gallery!

This week we want to point your attention to the plethora of inspriation in the KI Gallery!  The KI Design Team uploads new layouts almost daily.  If you are looking for examples on how to use a product just find the product in the Product Gallery and at the bottom of the product detail page you will see sample layouts from the KI Gallery using that particular product.  Here's an example, this is the product detail page of Pop Culture Fruit Stripe.  See the ideas at the bottom of the page?  And then you can click, Click here to see more layouts used by this product, and see even more projects using that same product!!

We challenged each other this week to be inspired by the KI Gallery.  It wasn't hard at all!!

Dee Gallimore-Perry was inspired by Jill Hornby's Girl Layout.  Here's what she said:

I was SOOOO inspired by the way Jill Hornby used the Hearts Lace Cardstock in the layout titled:   Girl

I loved that she used a small section of the Hearts Lace Cardstock, and applied rub-ons to it here and there.   Instead of using the rub-ons on my Lace Cardtock piece, however, I used a few Softies.
Obviously, I was also inspired by the whole layout.  I really incorporated several of her design ideas into this page.  Her page also inspired me (reminded me) to dig out my 'Just Married Elements Rub-Ons and incorporate a few of the fun, versatile images into this layout, too.

Danni Perez was inspired by Rhonda Bonifay's 2 Words Layout.

Made_for_you_1

Staci Etheridge was inspired by Jill Hornby's Hopes Layout.  Here's what Staci had to say:

I love Jill's style! We actually use a lot of similar techniques, but her layouts always feel so sweet (might be that cutie chickadee she's got!). Mine are more uhm, energetic? frenetic? LOL :) I tried to stay true to the lovey-dovey sweetness this time though! Oh, and I'm not very good at stitching (Jill's stitching details are always so fab!), so I went with the penwork version of stitching around the layout.  Thanks for the inspiration Jill!

Holly Child was inspired by Sarah Klemish's Life at Four Layout.

I was inspired by Michelle Guray's Fresh Layout.  I loved the girly feel of her layout.  She used products that I rarely get to use with two little boys.  So this was the perfect inspiration for a layout to go in my pregnancy album.  I am using the size 6"x12" for the album.

Leave a comment with a link to the layout you made and a link to the layout you were inspired by in the KI Gallery and be entered to win a KI prize valued at $25!!  Random winner chosen next Friday.

Congratulations to last week's winner.....

Challenge: Patterned Paper Border

My inspiration for this challenge comes from Idea 47 (frame your page with a bright border) by Candi Leonard in the KI Planner. I think using patterned paper like this is a fun way to frame your page and, as an added bonus, a good way to use those little bits of paper! To give my border a funky look, I varied the size of the papers and even used decorative scissors for interest.  Keeping the background white really makes all those colors pop.

So that’s my challenge for you this week! Don’t forget to post a link to your layout in the comments! We love to see what you create!

Friday's Focus on Felt Albums

KI Memories has a fantastic collection of felt albums.  The Heartfelt Albums released in 2007 come in a variety of sizes (12x12, 8.5x11, 8x8, and 4x4.)  The newest additions to KI's albums are coming in May.  Within the Bloom Collection there are six 4x4 felt albums in a variety of colors with designer patches on the covers.  They are simply amazing!!

See for yourself!

Picture_2

Amy Grendell created a first year album for her daughter using a 4x4 Heartfelt Album.  The 4x4 size is so perfect for a quick and adorable album.  You can easily crop 4x6 photos to fill one side of each spread like Amy did.  The covers are easily customizable with the little window.  You can even add an embellishment or two right to the cover.

Challenge: Pick Pastels!

It's finally spring, and nothing says spring to me like pretty pastels. I love mixing pastels with bold colors to soften the bold colors and make the pastels pop. On this layout I mixed products from the Just Married line with the Color Theory and Pop Culture lines to create a bright, springy page. So that's my challenge for the week...add some pastel colors to your springtime pages! :)
