Focus On YOU!

This week we want to focus on YOU!!  Ki Memories lovers, blog readers, and scrapbookers.....we appreciate you.  We want to make this a regular feature here on the KI Blog.  So if you have a tip using KI Memories products, or a project you'd love to share....email me.  If your tip or project is chosen we'll send you some KI Goodies!!  We can't wait to see what you've got to share with us!

For our first spotlight we'd like to feature Meghan Epperly.  She emailed me a great tip for creating a journal block with Essentials border stickers.  Here's what she said:

How to Make a Journaling Block with a Border

1. Lift up the edge of the sticker strip.
Step_1_medium_2

2. Slide your piece of cardstock under the sticker strip and line it up with the edge of where the sticker strip used to be.
Step_2_medium

3. Put the sticker strip back down and it perfectly lines up with the edge of your paper.

4. Trim with scissors.
Step_4_medium

5. Repeat steps 1-4 all the way around your paper.

And the final product:

Here's a little about Meghan:

Favorite KI product: I'd either say the Pop Culture stuff (which is much easier for me to get now that its at Target) or anything Love, Elsie

Favorite time to scrap: Anytime - But I love scrapping when I'm home alone. I can listen to 80s music (which my hubby hates) nice and loud and not feel bad about making a mess.

A little more: I'm 28, I've been married about 15 months, and we have a black lab named Pepper. I've been scrap booking for a little over 10 years. My current big project is working on my Wedding and Honeymoon albums. I think scrapbooking is a little different for me because we don't have any kids... the things I scrap tend to be a little different from most people. I scrap a lot about our friends, our dogs, and our travels.

Please congratulate Meghan on being the KI Memories Focus for the week!

Challenge: Find It...

Your inspiration that is.

Sometimes you need a little spark to get your creative mojo flowing. And often, your inspiration can be closer than you think. Look around your home, your scrap room, your closet even and pick an absolute favorite thing that is just "you". Figure out why it screams your name and use it as an inspiration for a layout.

For my layout, I even used pictures of the inspiring object (my new coffee table)! But more importantly, I took the characters that make it "me" and used them on my layout--distressed, chunks of it missing, warm colors, and the little details. And ended up with a layout that looks just as "me" as the table! :)

So, my challenge to you is to find inspiration in a beloved item in your home and translate it to a layout! Don't forget to use lots of KI goodies and link it in the comments so we can see a little more about what makes your stuff "you"! :)

Focus On Cards!

First of all...Happy Mother's Day!

The KI Design Team has come up with a few fun card designs to inspire you!  Do you usually create a bunch of cards to keep for when needed or do you wait until you need one and whip it up real quick?  I definitely fall into the later category.
Hopefully we'll inspire you today to make a few cards and have them on hand.  Or perhaps.....give you an idea for a quick card!

Dee Gallimore-Perry is a card master!  She created two fun cards this week!

Danni Perez used her scraps from this layout to create a card....

And I told you I like quick cards in a pinch!  Nothing could get faster than this and look cute, too....
I used an older card from KI and a soon to be released Bloom Collection Postage Alpha 3-Dimensional Sticker.  A fun little notecard...

You can easily search the KI Gallery for cards.....just choose 'other' in the search criteria for size.

Challenge: Multi Photo Layout!

This layout is featuring KI Urban Era, available at JoAnn Fabric & Craft Stores and is featured as a product display in the stores.

The challenge this week is to put more than one photo on a layout! I am a BIG one photo scrapper. They are the kind of pages I enjoy most. But sometimes we have more than one photo that tells the story. See how many photos you can get on a layout!

I was inspired by Jackie's Patterned Paper Border Challenge.  Jackie always uses such a fun mix of papers on her layouts.  The Patterned Papers I used in this layout are new at Joann's, KI Urban Era.  They are similar to Pop Culture, but in new colors.

Challenge: Sewing!

By Sarah Klemish:

I am so inspired by the KI planner - if you haven't seen it yet it is a definite must have!

One of my favorite KI products are the Heartfelt Fuzzy Felt Stickers - the bright colors and great font size make them easy to add to any project. As I was going through the great ideas and layouts in the KI planner I came across some projects where the designer sewed the letters! I knew I wanted to give it a try.

If you look on page 47, 49, 64, 138 and 155 you will see some amazing layouts using the sewing technique.

Focus On Trying a New Size!

This week we are challenging you to Try a Different Size!  Most of us have a size that we usually scrap in, that we prefer.  But sometimes you find yourself in a rut, and one of the best ways to get out of it is try a different size.  I do this sometimes when I start to feel like everything is looking the same.  A new size forces you to try different photo placement.  It also helps you find a new balance with embellishments.  Whether it's one page or a whole album, give it a try!

Tracy Miller is a 12x12 scrapper, has been as long as I can remember, but she tried 8.5x11 just for fun this week!

Licknose_2

Anne Heyen is also a 12x12 scrapper.  This week she was  working on a 12x12 layout that she said just wasn't working.  So she cut it......and now loves it!

Untitled1

Danni Perez is a 12x12 scrapper as well, but has been wanting to try the 8.5x11 size.  She decided to do a whole album for her daughter in this size!

Lovely

I'm sharing a layout from CHA this week.  Please excuse the photo, the lights reflected on the glass.   But I wanted to show you  what a big impact a two page 8.5x11 can have when one whole side is just patterned paper.  Some things that would be harder to do on a 12x12 two page layout work much better on the smaller size.  BTW, this layout was made with BLOOM product, which should be available next month, yay!!!!

Img_6795_2

I'm going to take this week to get caught up on the past few winners, but we'd LOVE to see you try a different size!    I am still missing an email or two.  Please check the posts to see if you won!!!

Also, next Saturday is National Scrapbooking Day!  Look for some special contests then!!!

Congratulations to last week's winner.......Email ME

This is a great idea!! Since I usually take the pictures, I really want to get an ALL About Me album done. I'm sure the kids would get a kick out of reading about Mommy one day...LOL! THANKS!
